Peter has created stamps and First Day covers for the Royal Mail, and at the other end of the scale, 96 sheet posters for P&O amongst others. His work has been featured in books about the history of CGI as an art form. His journey from 2D photo montage and creative photo-retouching, towards 3D modeling and photo-realistic 3D rendering, has earned him his reputation as being one of the foremost artists in the medium. This pivotal career switch led to a steady stream of illustration jobs for corporate, design and advertising clients that continues to this day. This successful design was then rolled out across the country to other stores.

Setting up as a freelance illustrator/animator, his first commission was to design and create a large scale series of surreal photo montage panels for the flagship Virgin Mega store. During this time he beta tested the first version of Photoshop. He then worked for six months in one of the first multimedia design companies in London, Decode Design. During that time he pushed the limits of the computer departments Image Artist, a Quantel Paintbox style computer graphics system, to create 2D animated stings and title sequences.

Peter then graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA(DES RCA) in Graphic Design. Peter's interest in using computers for manipulating images started at the London College of Printing where he attained a First Class honors degree for Graphic Design.

They occasionally have Blender tutorials but as a free 3D program you are best served by going to their forum.Peter Crowther is an experienced illustrator and creative director, specialising in harnessing sophisticated 3D software to create compelling, unique, photo-realistic and conceptual images and sequences for clients worldwide. It's not for complete novices since they assume you do have access to very expensive software and a setup that will run it. If you can find it locally pick it up and thumb through a copy. Other than that you get a large amount of training material without paying for the subscription service at a site like or Pluralsight (formerly Digital Tutors). Oddly that's the only thing industry pros seem to be silent on. They have great advice on getting started in the industry but I have yet to see one article on pay negotiation. They do, however, have wonderful articles on how shots in major films were done, great industry insight from pros, wonderful tutorials by well-known 3D artists, software reviews, and occasionally software discounts. You will find a lot of useful tutorials (provided it's Autodesk and Adobe that you use) but you won't find enough on competitive software like LightWave 3D, Cinema4D(they added more tutorials), Blender, RealFlow, Houdini, any matchmoving software (PF Track, Syntheyes, etc.), and anything by Foundry, the exception being their Nuke compositing software. That being said you will stay up to date on what companies are doing with the software you will have a fresh portfolio/demo reel to present. My rating is 4 stars because they don't cover much outside of the Autodesk and Adobe competitor software.
